John Pellew

CEO and Founder

John is the creative mind and driving force behind Othera. He has built and sold two U.K. startups and also has over 20 years experience in business and banking. John worked for RBS in the U.K. and CBA in Australia, in both business and international trade finance. These roles provided John with extensive experience and insight into credit and financial markets which he is combining with a passionate interest in blockchain for the development of the Othera platform.

Andrew Maxwell

CTO- Asia Pacific

Andrew comes to Othera with over 20 years experience in development of algorithmic, low- latency trading systems for fintechs such as Optiver; and development of new trading, funds management and market analytics systems for top tier multi-national finance companies including Goldman Sachs, Macquarie Bank, Lehman Brothers, BNP Paribas and Dun & Bradstreet in London, New York, Toronto and Sydney. Andrew’s experience over seeing automation of proprietary trading decisions led to significant profit growth and business expansion. He has a first class honours degree in computer science and a Masters in Applied Finance.

Dr. Martijn Rutten

CTO- Europe

Martijn comes to Othera with a strong background in software engineering and systems architecture, as well as extensive experience mentoring early-mid stage technology companies. Martijn was co-founder of Vector Fabrics, a firm specialising in development and testing tools for complex software, where he held VP Engineering and CEO roles. He has also lead systems architecture, and was a senior research scientist for Phillips Research in Eindhoven where he obtained a PhD in Computer Science.

Katie O’Mara

CMO

Katie has experience leading marketing, operations, strategy and BD in early-mid stage businesses. She was city manager of silicon valley based startup, Upwork where she lead state based partnerships, marketing and training. Katie also founded a health technology startup specialising in online product distribution, training and curation of scientific research for health professionals. In this role, Katie generated industry partnerships with hospitals, universities, and large multi-nationals such as Heinz and Nestle, for training, marketing, sales and future product development. Katie has first class honours degree in Applied Science, specialising in language and communication.

Jeremy Cohen

Senior Business Analyst

Jeremy worked in South Africa for 10 years undertaking private equity transactions and private debt issuances and restructures for large private companies and listed companies with a small to mid size market capitalisation. These transactions occurred primarily in the mining and industrial sectors, with many equity transactions being for economic empowerment reasons. Jeremy is also a seed investor and advisor to a peer to peer lender in Hong Kong and China named Pandai. He has a bachelor degree in law and economics, and a graduate management diploma from Macquarie Graduate School of Management.
